Biography of Jennifer Graham
Jennifer Graham serves as Associate General Counsel and Healthcare Regulatory Specialist at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield. In that capacity she provides advice and counsel concerning medical research, student and medical residency affairs, and healthcare and academic regulatory compliance. Jennifer also drafts and review grants, contracts, leases and other legal documents in addition to serving on and advising School of Medicine committees, including, but not limited to, the Springfield Committee for Research Involving Human Subjects.
Prior to serving in her capacity with Southern Illinois University, Jennifer worked at the Missouri Hospital Association as Associate General Counsel. Jennifer’s primary role was serving as lead counsel for the association’s data company, the Hospital Industry Data Institute. Jennifer was responsible for HIPAA privacy compliance and chaired the association’s HIPAA Privacy and Security Compliance Committee. Her duties also included contract drafting, review and negotiation; hospital legislation review; transactional work and general legal support for the association and its subsidiaries. Prior to her time with the association, she worked for the Illinois Secretary of State, Office of the Inspector General, and she completed a clerkship with the Illinois Fourth District Appellate Court in Springfield after graduating law school.
Jennifer graduated cum laude from David Lipscomb University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and graduated cum laude from Valparaiso University School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in Illinois and Missouri and is Certified in Healthcare Compliance by the Compliance Certification Board. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, American Health Lawyers Association, Health Care Compliance Association, and National Association for University and College Attorneys. Jennifer enjoys traveling, competing in triathlons and running events, and spending time with family.
