Biography of Todd A. Wakeland

Todd Wakeland serves as an Associate General Counsel at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.  In that capacity, he represents the University in wide range of legal matters including contracting and procurement, business transactions, Freedom of Information Act and other information requests, bankruptcy, copyright, research, policy and governmental affairs/investigations, among other things.

Prior to coming to the University, Mr. Wakeland served as an Assistant General Counsel at Saint Louis University practicing in the areas of contracts and medical research.  Prior to his position as an Assistant General Counsel at Saint Louis University, Mr. Wakeland was employed as an Associate Attorney at Brown & James, PC, in St. Louis Missouri practicing in the area of insurance defense.  He began his career as a criminal defense attorney working throughout the metropolitan St. Louis area.

Todd Wakeland is a graduate of the University of Missouri–St. Louis with a BA in history and received his Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University in 2003.  He is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the Illinois Bar Association and the National Association of College and University Attorneys.  Mr. Wakeland is licensed to practice in Missouri, Illinois and the Federal District Court in Eastern Missouri.
