A Message from Dr. Daniel F. Mahony
Welcome to the Southern Illinois University System!
Over the course of the last 150 years, the SIU campuses have grown from humble beginnings to be recognized as ever-expanding centers for learning and research. During that time, SIU Carbondale and SIU Edwardsville have developed into the core of a modern university system that provides learning opportunities to over 27,000 students.
Focused on a footprint that encompasses the southern-most 66 counties of the state, the economic, healthcare and academic resources of the SIU System are making a real difference in the lives of the 2.2 million Illinoisans who call this area home. Beyond these communities however, the SIU brand is known throughout the world because of the success of our students and our groundbreaking research.
I hope you will take time to learn more about our two universities which offer a broad range of academic programs that lead to associate, baccalaureate, master's, specialist's, and doctoral and professional practice degrees in 32 fields including law, medicine, pharmacy, and dental medicine.
