Board of Trustees

The Chair of the Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University has called a special meeting via teleconference of the Executive Committee of the Board, beginning on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at 8 a.m. at the Stone Center, 1400 Douglas Drive, Carbondale, Illinois.  The matters for discussion are personnel and litigation.

Upon the meeting’s call to order, it is expected that a motion will be made to close the meeting to the public for the purposes of considering, “The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body and litigation, when an action against, affecting or on behalf of the particular public body has been filed and is pending before a court or administrative tribunal, or when the public body finds that an action is probable or imminent.”  The relevant sections of the Open Meetings Act Statute that allow for the closed session are 5 ILCS 120/2(c) (1,11).  A roll call vote will be necessary to pass this motion and only the topics specified in the motion may be considered during the closed session.
