Biography of Katelyn Hall
Katelyn E. Hall serves as Associate General Counsel for Labor and Employment at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. In this capacity she represents the School of Medicine in a wide range of legal matters that includes but is not limited to: labor issues, employment issues, discipline matters, Family Education Privacy Rights Act issues, Freedom of Information Act requests, litigation, and administrative agency cases.
Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, Ms. Hall worked as an associate attorney in private practice for 5 years. During this time, she handled matters that included medical malpractice defense, employment defense, personal injury insurance defense, and intellectual property matters. She has experience handling complex litigation matters at both state and federal levels in addition to working on administrative matters matter before the Illinois Department of Human Rights, Equality Employment Opportunity Commission, and National Labor Relations Board. Before working in private practice, she worked as an Assistant Public Defender in Sangamon County.
Ms. Hall earned her Juris Doctor and Masters of Jurisprudence at Michigan State University College of Law. She is licensed to practice in the Central District, Southern District, and Northern District Courts of Illinois in addition to the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys, Lincoln-Douglas Inn of Court, the Sangamon County Bar Association, and the Central Illinois Women’s Bar Association. Outside of the office, Ms. Hall enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering in her community.
