Mission
The SIU System Office of Community Engagement (OCE)’s mission is to leverage System resources to strengthen and expand mutually beneficial, community-university relationships in Central and Southern Illinois. OCE harnesses university resources, faculty expertise, and student innovation to optimize community voices and to create transformative change through community-identified projects, addressing critical community issues and priorities and contributing to the public good.
By working as equitable partners with communities, local and state leaders, businesses, faculty, staff and students, OCE is committed to addressing the needs of the communities that we serve. OCE’s primary activities support the SIU’s strategic community engagement priorities: criminal and social justice, economic access, education, and health care.
