Contract research opportunities are widely available throughout the SIU campus system (Carbondale, Edwardsville, Alton, and Springfield). The university system's contract research strengths include multi-campus medical, biotech and agriculture research centers, as well as opportunities with our extensive engineering/manufacturing, computer IT, AI learning and electronics resources.
Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) was recently designated as a Research 1 (R1) institution by the Carnegie Classifications. SIUC also has a School of Medicine campus with capabilities related to clinical trials, medical imaging, and basic science. SIUC offers a wide variety of analytical services, from chemical, engineering and environmental laboratory analysis to energy and fermentation consulting services.
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's (SIUE) research efforts are broadly focused on areas like health sciences and drug discovery (especially in Pharmacy and Dentistry), data analysis and predictive modeling, engineering sciences, and diverse undergraduate research and creative activities across all disciplines, often engaging in community and regional partnerships.
